the house colors: blue and bronze. blue and white are the colors of scotland (where hogwarts is located and where rowena ravenclaw is from). a connotation of the color blue is magic. bronze represents third in terms of medals. in the books, gryffindor is red and gold and is typically placed first, slytherin is green and silver and is typically placed second, ravenclaw is blue and bronze and is typically placed third. in the first book, ravenclaw came in third place for the house cup. ravenclaw is the third house mentioned in alphabetical sequence, which is the order in which the houses are usually listed. the mascot, the eagle, represents broader vision, strength of mind and heart, gathering of knowledge for the sake of enlightenment and awareness, and wisdom. in hinduism, an eagle is the “vehicle” of vishnu, the blue(!)-skinned god. most people default ravenclaw to the house of intelligence, but it’s more than that. intelligence, wit, wisdom, intellectuality, and studiousness aside, ravenclaw is the house for the creative and individualistic. it’s the artist, musician, and performer’s house. basically, the hipster house. speaking of individuality, stars are a recurring thing. and when it comes to moon v. stars, the stars are all individuals. upon speculation, the gray lady, helena ravenclaw, was suspected to be (before finding out she was rowena ravenclaw’s daughter) lady jane grey, the nine-day queen. she was considered one of the most learned women of her day. prior to execution, she was held captive in the london tower behind a blue(!) door. the london tower is famous for the ravens(!) that inhabit it. the london tower is also home to the crown jewels, which, coincidentally, a diadem is the magical artifact of rowena ravenclaw. ravenclaw corresponds to the element of air. in ancient greek medicine, each of the four humors became associated with an element. blood was the humor identified with air, since both were hot and wet. other things associated with air and blood include the sanguine temperament (which is described as creative, sarcastic, shameless, and thoughtful) and hermaphrodites (which could be indicative of ravenclaw house’s acceptance and encouragement of eccentrics). air, in pagan traditions, is represented by the color blue(!), the sunrise (pottermore sorting), and birds (eagle). also, athena/minerva, hermes/mercury, nuit, shu, and thoth. athena and minerva are, respectively, the greek and roman equivalents of one another. athena is the goddess of wisdom, strategy, creativity, and skill. minerva is the goddess of poetry, medicine, wisdom, creativity, and magic. her sacred creature is the owl (bird!), which represents her wisdom. minerva also happens to be the name of a certain hogwarts professor, whom we have learned was a gryffindor/ravenclaw hatstall. hermes and mercury are, respectively, the greek and roman equivalents of one another. hermes is the messenger god and protector of orators and wit, literature and poets, and invention. he is famous for his winged(!) sandals and winged(!) cap. mercury is also a messenger god famous for winged(!) sandals. nuit is the egyptian sky goddess. she is usually depicted naked and covered in stars(!). shu, also egyptian, is the personification of air. thoth, also egyptian, is associated with the art of magic, system of writing, and development of science.

You, dear sir, are a champ for posting this. To be honest, a lot of it might be coincidence, but may have some truth, but I don’t really think she might have researched ALL of this. It’s like the thing (google isn’t working for me, sorry folks) where people see faces in things that faces aren’t in. (i.e. Jesus in grilled cheese)and people assign these coincidences, but very interesting nontheless!
